There is need for a better working relationship between the private and public sectors to carry this country forward.
This was the consensus coming out of a meeting today between the Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Urban Development, Dr. Denis Lowe, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and the Barbados Private Sector Association, Magnus Whitehead.
Stating that steps had already been taken to work more closely with government, Mr. Whitehead revealed that the Barbados Chamber of Commerce had started to restructure its operation by creating four committees – Economic Development, Business and Environment, Membership Development, and Social and Community.
Dr. Lowe, in acknowledging that there could be a beautiful relationship with the private sector, said the two sectors must demonstrate that they are partners operating from two different ends but are interested in working towards the national good.
Today’s meeting was the first of several planned between the two sectors.
