Twenty-two public servants are currently participating in the second cohort of the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity’s (BIMAP) Certificate in Management Studies, with specialisation in Supervisory Management.

The course is a continuation of the Learning and Development Directorate’s (LDD) Capacity Building Initiative (CBI) for middle managers in the public service. It is also designed to improve the leadership competencies of middle managers and sharpen their supervisory skills.

The programme started on Tuesday, February 20, with participants selected from a cross-section of customer-facing ministries, including the Ministries of Health and Wellness; Environment and National Beautification, Blue and Green Economy; Transport and Works; and Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment.

Through BIMAP and the LDD’s CBI, participants will develop competencies to make effective decisions and recommendations, manage and work in teams effectively, and display willingness to accept responsibility and accountability for matters under their purview in their respective departments.
