As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI) will host a week of activities from Sunday, October 15, to Friday, October 20, under the theme Pioneering Quality Fifty Years Forward.
A church service will be held on Sunday, at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, St. Luke’s, St. George, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
BNSI’s Visibility Conference will be held on Monday, October 16, at Courtyard by Marriott, Hastings, Christ Church, starting at 9:00 a.m. In addition to bringing awareness to the institution’s activities, which foster a quality culture, the BNSI will use the half-day conference to highlight its accomplishments during the past financial year. Members of staff will be rewarded for their commitment and outstanding work over the years.

There will be a customer event on Tuesday, October 17, at Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, St. Michael, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It is designed to bring awareness to the BNSI and its services, as well as gather feedback from stakeholders on its engagement. Prizes will be given to persons taking part in the BNSI’s challenge.
Front-of-Package Labelling – Can it Really Be Effective in the NCD Fight? is the topic of a webinar for stakeholders and members of the public on Thursday, October 19, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Persons interested in participating in the session should visit the BNSI’s website or Facebook page for the webinar link.
The week will climax with a staff activity on Friday, October 20.
The Barbados National Standards Institution was established in 1973 as a joint venture between the Government of Barbados and the private sector, under the Companies Act.
It has lead responsibility for promoting standardisation, producing technical standards on a wide range of products and services, and providing certification and standards-related services to businesses, organisations and various relevant publics.
BNSI’s laboratory offers testing, calibrations and metrology services to the business community, in particular, the construction and infrastructure sectors. The services include various soil and aggregate tests, as well as compression testing of concrete blocks, cubes and cylinders.
