It was a time of reflection on successes and challenges when the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) staff recently joined parishioners in fellowship to celebrate the institution’s 10th Anniversary with a Thanksgiving Church Service at St. Mary’s Church, Bridgetown.

In her remarks, Revenue Commissioner Louisa Lewis-Ward reflected on the Authority’s pivotal role in navigating Barbados through periods of uncertainty, and through its core work continuing to contribute to this island’s economic sustainability.

She acknowledged and highlighted the significant contribution of BRA staff as the engine of significant growth, innovation, and improvement while “learning to embrace change, adapting and thriving in an ever-evolving environment.”

Mrs. Lewis-Ward shared that the Authority’s anniversary celebrations will be two-pronged, with a focus on staff and taxpayers.

She added: “Our activities will serve as a testament to our teams and their remarkable work. We have strived to be recognised locally and globally as a model tax administration. Our focus on building leadership experience and fostering collaboration has been instrumental in this recognition.”

“For taxpayers, we will continue to build your trust and provide a platform from which you can liaise with the Authority to enhance your compliance and contribute to Barbados’s socio-economic landscape – for it is through your contributions that Barbados is able to deliver on its social programmes,” she explained.

The BRA Revenue Commissioner also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and Investment officials, former Commissioners and Boards of Directors for their unwavering support and guidance, which have been instrumental in the Authority’s journey.
