The Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) has issued the land tax bills for 2020-2021, and taxpayers have more payment options available to avoid lines in the Authority’s offices.
With the introduction of multiple online payment channels for land tax, taxpayers can make payments at a time, place and on a device of their choice.
According to manager communications and public relations, Carolyn Williams-Gayle, the Authority has been focused on making it easier for taxpayers to fulfill their tax obligations.
“At the Authority, we have been working assiduously with public and private sector partners over the last year to improve our revenue collection systems.
“We have made significant headway in relation to the collection of land tax. Earlier this year, we reinforced our collaboration with the EZpay+ platform; partnered with Cave Shepherd Card Services, SurePay and the commercial banking sector to enhance the accessibility of digital payments, using their individual platforms. However, availability on some banking platforms is still a work in progress,” she highlighted.
“Our aim is to make it easier for taxpayers to interact with us and the inclusion of these digital payment channels, allows us to achieve this. While persons may visit any of our locations or SurePay locations to pay land tax, we recommend using the digital payment channels, especially at a time where the spread of COVID-19 remains a concern. Taxpayers have the option of using ezpay.gov.bb, www.surepaybills.com, the Cave Shepherd Mobile App, or their online banking platform to pay,” Mrs. Williams-Gayle added.
The issue date for this year’s bill is August 24, 2020. This means taxpayers will benefit from a 10 per cent discount if payment is made in full by September 23, 2020, and a five per cent discount if full payment is made by October 23, 2020.
