The 20th biennial conference of the Caribbean Association of Home Economists Inc. (CAHE) will be held next week from Monday, April 8 to Wednesday, April 10 at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP), Wildey, St. Michael.
The conference, which is in celebration of CAHE’s 41st anniversary, will be held under the theme Home Economics Empowerment: Education for Sustainable Lifestyles.
Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Senator Harry Husbands, will deliver the feature address at the official opening this Sunday, April 7, at the Roy Marshall Teaching Complex, University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus, St. Michael, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
In addition to a number of issues which will be under the microscope, there will be a press conference on Wednesday, April 10 at the SJPP to discuss the rationale behind the hosting of the 20th biennial conference of CAHE.
This takes place from 11:00 a.m. and will be addressed by President of the International Federation for Home Economics (IFHE), Carol Warren, who will address Home Economics from a historical and world perspective and Immediate Past President IFHE, and former executive member of CAHE, Professor Geraldene Hodelin, who will examine the role of the home economists.
President of CAHE, Audrey Jones-Drayton will chair the press conference.
