The Third Call For Proposals for employers and training providers to access funding from the Competency-Based Training Fund (CBTF) will be made next week.
Funds will be made available for partnerships to develop and provide training programmes based on occupational standards, aimed at improving the skills of Barbadian workers ??? employed, whether full or part-time, or unemployed.
The CBTF falls under the Government of Barbados/Inter-American Development Bank???s Skills For the Future Programme. The initiative is designed to better equip Barbadian workers with the skills and competencies needed to excel in a rapidly changing world.
It requires employers and training Institutions to form partnerships to access the funds for primarily training persons employed in the particular organisation. These partnerships may be formed between an employer/employee association and local, regional or international training providers.
Together the employer and training provider must submit joint training proposals to the CBTF indicating, among other things, the type of training; funding that is required; the assessment to be performed; and the certification to be issued at the end of the training.
Persons interested in accessing grant funding are asked to note that the CBTF will host a workshop on Tuesday, February 3, at the Accra Beach Hotel, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. It will provide them with the information to assist with developing the proposals.??
Registration for the workshop is currently ongoing, and persons must register online at cbtf.com.bb/register in order to participate. The Second Call for Proposals saw a total of 39 proposals submitted to the CBTF by the deadline September 30, 2014. This resulted in some 12 partnerships receiving grant funding earlier this week to the tune of BDS$7.5 million.
The partnerships named among this year???s awardees were The Nature Group Limited/A Nature Care Asymmetric Consulting Inc.; Rayside Construction Limited/Barbados Employers??? Confederation; Barbados Film and Video Association Inc./Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity; and Williams Industries Limited/the National Initiative for Service Excellence.
