For Child Month 2024, the Child Care Board (CCB) will be shining the spotlight on the nation’s children and helping parents and others to understand their responsibility to their charges.

This commitment was given by Director of the Child Care Board, Roseann Richards, as she addressed the church service this morning, at the People’s Cathedral, Collymore Rock, St. Michael, to launch Child Month 2024.

Noting that the month will see the CCB also taking the opportunity to remind parents, individuals, and society of their responsibility to children, she said: “That responsibility is to guarantee that each child is afforded the opportunity to develop to his or her full potential.”

Child Month is being celebrated this May under the theme Our Children: Building Hope and Resilience for Tomorrow.

Alluding to the importance of this theme, Ms. Richards said: “We need to carefully examine the systems and structures which we have put in place to facilitate our children’s smooth transition during each stage of their development.

“In this way, we will help them to build hope and strengthen their resolve to face the future. Our children need this now more than ever. The Child Care Board, with the support of parents and every member of society, intends to provide our children with that hope.”

The church service, as one of the important activities planned for the month, catered to the spiritual, social, and educational needs of children. Children from across the educational system participated in all aspects of the service.
