The National Conservation Commission (NCC’s) ‘Clean and Green’ Team is continuing its mission of transforming communities across Barbados into clean, safe, recreational spaces for residents to enjoy.

At another media launch today at ‘The Grotto,’ Dalkeith, St. Michael, benches and a variety of plants were added to beautify the area.

Minister of Environment and National Beautification, Adrian Forde pointed out that not only are the Clean and Green Programme’s activities in line with achieving the United Nations Sustainable Goals of Climate Action and Sustainable Cities and Communities, but they are also offering vendors “green, commercial spaces” to sell their vegetables and other crops.

“The same way that we have sought to beautify rustic Barbados, we are equally committed to making urban Barbados the most aesthetically pleasing place in the world,” he assured.

Clean and Green Project Manager, Askari Elson explained that the Programme currently employs 720 workers to “maintain public spaces and parks within the community, cutting grass, weeding garden beds, farming garden beds, installing plants, raking leaves, among other things. So far, the Clean and Green Programme has beautified 39 communities across the island.
