*Change made to the meeting at the Deighton Griffith Secondary School, which is now Sunday, November 6. It was previously scheduled for Sunday, October 23.

The Constitutional Reform Commission will host several public meetings, and members of the public are encouraged to attend and make submissions on matters they wish reflected in the new Barbados Constitution.

The first will be held on Sunday, October 16, at The St. Michael School, Martindales Road, St. Michael; while another will be on Sunday, October 30, at the Alexandra School, Queen’s Street, St. Peter.

* There will also be a meeting on Sunday, November 6, at the Deighton Griffith Secondary School, Kingsland, Christ Church All meetings will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The Commission’s Terms of Reference are to:

  • examine, consider and enquire into the Barbados Constitution and all other related laws and matters, with a view to the development and enactment of a new Constitution;
  • report in writing giving opinions, recommendations and providing for consideration a draft Constitution, which is necessary and meets the circumstances of a 21st century Barbados, and promotes the peace, order and good governance of the island;
  • and consider all other relevant matters in the attainment of its objectives.
