The Barbados Statistical Service (BSS) will commence its Continuous Labour Force Sample Survey (CLFSS) for the fourth quarter, starting Tuesday, December 19.
As a result, field officers from the department will visit households in several districts across the island, and householders are urged to actively participate in this exercise.
In St. Michael, the team will survey Deacons, Goodland, Weekes Land, Green Hill, Mahaica Gap, Kew Road, Military Road, Pasture Road, Villa Road, Warners Gap, Storm Signal Station Road, and Flagstaff Road.
In Christ Church, field officers will visit Amity Lodge, Rendezvous Hill, Worthing View Road, Graeme Hall Swamp Road, Vauxhall Village Road, Warners Terrace, Flamboyant Avenue, Hibiscus Avenue, Orchid Avenue, Warners Park, Kingsland, Gall Hill, Water Street, Lodge Road, Best Road, Venus Drive, Wotton Road, Clear View, and Cherry Wood Circle.
The communities in St. George to be surveyed are Middleton Road, Fairview Heights, Workman’s Road, Jericho Road, Elcock Road, Jordan’s Road, and Eastlynne Road.
The field officers will target the following districts in St. Philip: Heddings Road, St. Martin’s, Kirtons, Foul Bay, Gully Road, Seaview Road, Belair Road, Tamarind Avenue, and Tangerine Street.
In St. James, the BSS field officers will be in Haynesville, Hartland Road, Piton Road, Upper Durants, Village Road, Durants Village Road, Holders Hill Road, Mandela Avenue, Thorpe’s, Denny Road, Halls Village Road and Prior Park.
The team will be conducting the survey in West View Road, Rock Hall, Content Road, Porey Spring, and Dunscombe, in St. Thomas.
In St. Peter, field officers will survey Old Sugar House Road, Mullins Road, and Gibbs and Rock Dundo.
The CLFSS is the quarterly collection of current information on various labour force characteristics, as well as income and expenditure data, gathered from a sample of households across Barbados.
This information is then used to determine employment and unemployment levels in the island, coupled with the distribution of skills/professions in the different sectors of the economy, all of which lead to the provision of statistics for timely and necessary social and economic planning.
The BSS urges household members to cooperate with the field officers who will be wearing the official BSS identification card. The department also expresses appreciation to all those who have previously cooperated in the completion of the surveys and reminds persons that all information is kept in the strictest confidence and handled in a manner to prevent recognition of any individual.
