Members of the public are invited to come out and learn more about tracking storms, meet the emergency response teams and test out equipment on Friday, June 30.
That is when the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) will host an Open Day event, in its car park at No. 24 Warrens Industrial Park, Warrens, St. Michael, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Visitors to the Open Day will experience the ultimate hurricane awareness extravaganza as they meet with and interact with emergency responders from the Barbados Fire Service, the Barbados Citizens’ Band Radio Association, District Emergency Organisation volunteers, the Barbados Meteorological Services, the Barbados Light and Power Company Limited, and other relevant stakeholders.
Interested persons will also have an opportunity to sign up to become a disaster management volunteer. All are welcome to the finale event for Hurricane Awareness Month 2023, celebrated under the theme: Be Storm Ready.
