Accreditation is more than just a stamp of approval. It is a commitment to excellence, accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement in an ever-evolving educational landscape.

This view was expressed by Deputy Chief Education Officer (Schools) in the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, Julia Beckles, as she delivered remarks at an accreditation workshop yesterday at the Radisson Aquatica Resort, Aquatic Gap, St. Michael.

Calling the education officials and stakeholders present, as “the Ministry’s dedicated professionals”, Ms. Beckles said they are united by one common goal – to enhance the quality and credibility of the country’s institutions and programmes through an effective accreditation process.

She further stated that the need for rigorous standards has never been more crucial and, together with the Ministry, they will navigate the challenges that will come.

“We will be exploring the best practices. We’re going to be sharing experiences, and we are going to be discussing the next steps towards accreditation. We are fortunate to have a lineup of distinguished speakers who will bring a wealth of knowledge and their expertise to our discussions and whose contributions will provide valuable perspectives on the accreditation process and its impact on our institutions and the communities that we serve.”

The Deputy Chief reminded the stakeholders that the training is a process where they are expected to engage, add richness and insights to the discussion, and participate fully to make a successful workshop.

“We can do more together. We can foster a collaborative environment that not only enhances our understanding of accreditation but also strengthens our networks and our professional relationships. So, we thank you for being here today, and we expect that at the end of it all, you would have gained much knowledge. You certainly would have gained some more insight into the accreditation process, and that we will continue on this journey together as we strive for excellence in education through accreditation,” she stated.
