Minister of the Environment and Drainage, Dr. Denis Lowe, has pledged his Ministry’s support in assisting with challenges currently being experienced on the south coast of Barbados.
During a recent interview with the Barbados Government Information Service, Dr. Lowe said the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) was seeking to employ the services of a supplier to assist in washing down areas affected by sewage and apply a deodoriser to suppress the scent in the area.
“We hope to start as soon as possible with the appropriate permissions and approvals to be granted by the Authority,” he stated.
However, the Minister indicated that a schedule for service during the washing down and deodorising period would be established to ensure that there was no disruption of traffic.
He noted that the best time for the service to be rendered was when there was minimum traffic on the south coast.
“The Ministry of the Environment is aware that the relevant agencies responsible for that domain of service are working with success to rectify the issue. We are willing and ready to do what we can to assist with the complete alleviation of the situation,” Dr. Lowe reassured.
