Fifteen persons were selected for the next round of the Baje to the World competition, following a showcase at the Daphne Joseph Hackett Theatre on Saturday, January 8.
In December, 2021, 25 contestants were announced as going forward to the next round, and on January 8, they performed for judges Malcolm “X” Small, Astra Babb, Philip Forrester and renowned calypsonian and veteran artiste, Terencia Coward.
The 15 contestants moving on to the next round are: Ramon Bad, Andreen McClean, Makeda Lowe, Christina Dottin, Kyrique Alleyne, Shontae Alleyne, Peter Coxx, Harmoni Haynes, Jonathan Jordan, Rebekah Carter, Damon & Asha Boucher,Dianne Jemmott, Dainanna Price, Jalissa Edwards and Tarique O’neal Griffith.
As part of the competition, contestants will participate in competitive challenges and developmental workshops aimed at assisting them with developing their talent and performing on the world stage. Artistes and members of corporate Barbados have been invited to participate in the workshops, which began on Saturday, January, 15.
Contestants are performing this season for a chance to win $20,000 in cash and other prizes, as well as a chance to perform internationally with world-renowned soca artistes Fay-Ann Lyons and Bunji Garlin.
