The first phase of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 has come to an end as of today, Friday, March 26.
Over 63,000 Barbadians and permanent residents received the first shot of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines since the roll out began on February 11, this year.
The last week of the first phase saw over 3,000 teachers being vaccinated. The next set of first doses will start when more vaccines arrive on island in a couple of weeks.
Those persons who registered during the first phase, but did not receive an appointment, will be the first to be scheduled for vaccinations when the next shipment gets here.
The second phase of the National Vaccination Programme, the administration of the second dose, begins on Saturday, April 17.
