The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MHW) will resume its weekly fogging schedule from tomorrow, Wednesday, October 25, in some Christ Church and St. Michael districts.

After declaring a dengue fever outbreak earlier this month, fogging is one of several measures the MHW is employing as part of its response to eradicate the aedes aegypti mosquito which transmits dengue, in addition to source reduction and personal protection.

On Wednesday, the team from the Ministry’s Vector Control Unit will fog Maxwell Hill, Cane Vale Crescent 1, 2 and 3, Highway T, Gall Hill Housing Area, Gall Hill/Kingsland Road and environs.

The following day, Thursday, October 26, they will revisit Gall Hill/Kingsland Road, and then go into Adams Close, Silver Hill, Viola Drive and neighbouring districts.

The fogging exercise will conclude for the week on Friday, October 27, in Pickwick Gap, Westbury Road, New Orleans avenues, Baxter’s Road, Spencer’s Gap, Kensington New Road, Fontabelle, President Kennedy Drive, and surrounding areas.

Fogging takes place from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. daily. Householders are reminded to open their windows and doors so that the spray can enter.

Members of the public are reminded that the completion of scheduled fogging activities may be affected by events beyond the Unit’s control. In such circumstances, the Unit will return to communities affected in the soonest possible time.
