The Security Division of the Prime Minister’s Office will host a two-day symposium next month to discuss the proposed changes to the Private Investigators and Security Guard’s Act CAP 372 E.

The event, which targets private investigators, and security guard agencies and entities, will take place on Thursday, November 17, and Tuesday, November 22, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, starting at 10:00 a.m., both days.

According to Security Officer II and Secretary to the Private Investigators, Security Guards Licensing and Advisory Board, Leonard Cyrus, the current Act was proclaimed on December 10, 1985, and there is a need to improve the standards of government and private security guard services.

Further explaining the rationale behind the symposium, he said: “The industry has grown by leaps and bounds since the introduction of the Act in 1985.  It’s a growing industry, and therefore, we must ensure that our operations are modernised to meet the growing industry.”

Interested persons may register and indicate their preferred date of attendance by clicking here. Further details on the conference or on registration may be obtained by calling Mr. Cyrus at 535-5467, or the Clerk Typist, at 535-5457.
