(GAIA)

The Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) Inc. will join people around the world to celebrate Women of Aviation Worldwide Week (WOAW), from Monday, March 6, to Sunday, March 12.

WOAW is a global aviation awareness week for females of all ages and is observed to mark the anniversary of the world’s first female pilot licence (March 8, 1910).  The week serves as a call to address the gender imbalance in the air and space industry.

On, Wednesday, March 8, which is celebrated as International Women’s Day, GAIA Inc. will host an online discussion via its Facebook page, entitled Pink Wings: A Conversation with Women of Aviation, at 10:00 a.m.  The public is invited to join the discussion on the GAIA’s Facebook page.

Throughout the week, GAIA Inc. will also host in-house activities, including a breakfast on the balcony, and health workshops, in collaboration with the Randall Phillips Polyclinic.

Staff will have the opportunity to win prizes during the week of activities. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is DigitALL: Innovation And Technology For Gender Equality.
