Vaccine Week In The Americas Outreach Activities
Public health nurses will be conducting immunisations for adults and children this Saturday, May 3, to mark Vaccine Week in the Americas.
Members of the public will be able to update their immunisations, at Oistins (opposite super Centre) in Christ Church and at the Speightstown Esplanade in St. Peter, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at each venue.
Parents are asked to walk with their child???s immunisation record. Blood pressure and blood sugar testing will also be available as well as general health education on a variety of topics.
BCC Portfolio Arts Show Starts May 7
The Barbados Community College (BCC) 2014 Visual Arts Associate Degree Portfolio Art Show starts next Wednesday, May 7.
It will showcase the work of this year???s graduating class from the two-year art and design programme of the Fine Arts Department.??The event, which is free, officially opens on May 7, at the BCC from 6:00 p.m.
It will continue until Saturday, May 17, running from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. daily in the College???s Art Gallery at Morningside.
Patrons are invited to see the best that these rising stars have to offer with over 40 students specialising in graphic design, painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and a variety of other disciplines.
Physical Activity Training Workshops
The National Task Force on Physical Activity and Exercise will host a training workshop for persons interested in supervising or conducting physical activity sessions for members of their communities.
It will take place on Saturday, May 10, in Conference Room 509, 4th Floor, Frank Walcott Building, from 8:30 a.m. until 4: 30 p.m.
The workshop is being staged in response to the high national rates of Chronic Non-Communicable diseases which are compounded by increasing sedentary behaviours and over consumption of high calorie foods.
It will focus on equipping persons with knowledge of the psychology of exercise supervision, healthy nutrition for being physically active and practical skills for exercise supervision.
