Governor General Sir Elliot Belgrave today congratulated the 2016 top awardees in this year’s Caribbean Examinations Council’s (CXC) CSEC, CCSLC and CAPE examinations.

The 17 students from across the region paid a courtesy call on Sir Elliott at Government House, accompanied by officials from the Education Ministry, CXC and Barbadians students, who acted as chaperones.

Expressing pleasure at the achievements of the students, Sir Elliott urged them to strive always for excellence and continue applying themselves to their studies.

The Governor General further told the students: “It is my wish, hope and desire that all of you realise we are one people and treat each other as such. So that wherever you go and succeed, you never forget this region or your native land. The future of this region depends on you.”

The top awardees were also encouraged to apply for the Commonwealth Caribbean Rhodes Scholarship.
