Hangman’s Hill, St. Thomas. (Ministry of Transport and Works)

Starting Monday, November 4, 2024, work will commence to improve the surface of Hangman’s Hill, St. Thomas.

This is in preparation for its use as a bypass road for upcoming roadworks scheduled for Cane Garden to Bridgefield, and Cane Garden via Shop Hill to Content in the same parish.

Infra Construction Inc. will begin milling from the junction of Hopewell and Hangman’s Hill for approximately 1km in the first phase of the remedial work. The remaining 1km, which ends at Shop Hill, St. Thomas, will be done in phase two. A temporary colas and chip finish will be applied to the surface of Hangman’s Hill.

Phase one of the work is anticipated to take six weeks, pending weather or unforeseen circumstances. Work will be carried out Mondays to Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Local access will be provided to residents and businesses where possible. However, motorists are asked to avoid Hangman’s Hill during the day when work is in progress.

Hangman’s Hill will be one of two diversion routes when road construction commences on neighbouring priority roads (Cane Garden to Bridgefield, and Cane Garden to Content) in the central parish.

When road construction is finished on these roads, Hangman’s Hill is slated for a more permanent upgrade. Reece Road, St. Thomas, which is near completion, will also serve as the second alternate route.

The Ministry of Transport and Works thanks residents, businesses, and road users for their patience and cooperation.
