The Ministry of the Public Service’s Learning and Development Directorate will be hosting an HR Forum on workplace wellness for Human Resource (HR) practitioners in the Public Service.

Under the theme: Let’s Talk Workplace Wellness – A Call to Action, the whole-day forum will be held on Friday, March 22, at Hilton Barbados Resort, Needhams Point, St. Michael, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The aim of the sessions is to inspire leaders to take meaningful action to enhance the quality of work life in the Public Service with a view to influencing the quality of life overall.

The facilitator for the forum will be United Kingdom-based certified Stress Management Consultant, Ches Moulton, who will explore the impact of mental health issues on organisations, individuals and the society at large.  Mr. Moulton will also touch on effective strategies to foster a supportive, inclusive and healthy work environment that prioritises mental wellness.

Other topics to be discussed during the forum include: The Impact of Mental Health in the Workplace; The Four Burdens of Mental Illness; Moving from Illness to Health; Interventions and Solutions; Presenteeism Paradox; and Impact and Strategies of Presenteeism.

It is expected that the forum would assist Government in its work towards transforming the Public Service into “a model of excellence.”
