Barbadian teachers and leaders in the school have again been urged to write more and provide “good” material for use here and further afield.
This call came today from Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ronald Jones, as he addressed a handover ceremony of literacy material, at the Blackman and Gollop Primary School, Staple Grove, Christ Church.
“If they are used in our classrooms, they are going to be good and then they can be used in the Caribbean and the other parts of the world,” the Minister said, following his expressions of gratitude to benefactors of the items, Dr. Elizabeth and Hans Grundin, Directors of Early Literacy Resources in the United Kingdom.
The Education Minister noted that in the same vein that these authors had provided early childhood educational material, teachers here could follow suit. He stressed: “You don’t have to do all yourselves; work together; you write this story; you write that story and you publish one book.
“And, if you are really good, you publish three, four, five books,” he said, noting that today they could utilise both hard copy and digital media and deploy these to schools, in a similar manner.
