Members of the public are invited to take part in a competition to design a logo for the Barbados Sustainable Oceans Programme to represent the marine spatial plan (MSP) process.
It is being hosted by the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU), the lead authority on the MSP process, and is open to persons between the ages of 18 and 35, as of the deadline date of Wednesday, November 29, at 11:59 p.m. One entry is allowed per person.
The logo should represent the new MSP process, which aims to create a truly Barbadian sustainable oceans management plan promoting benefits to all ocean users and balanced ocean unit.
The winning logo will appear at all events for the MSP, social media, and other branded materials. In addition, the winner will walk away with BDS$2,000, an iPad, and pencil.
The artwork should be original and not infringe upon the copyright or other intellectual property right of a third party. In addition, all submissions must be of a high-resolution, which can be provided in multiple versions (jpeg, png, ai), along with colour options (full colour, reverse (white), and navy (or black), once selected as the winning logo.

Entries will be evaluated by a panel based on the following rubric: relevance to theme, 30 per cent; originality, 25 per cent; creativity, 20 per cent; visual impact, 15 per cent; and authentic Barbadian, 10 per cent.
Staff of the CZMU, UWI-CERMES, the Inter-American Development Bank, The Nature Conservancy, or those who sit on the Project Steering Committee, Stakeholder Advisory Committee, or within the MSP Unit are not eligible to participate.
