The Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES) has launched a new training initiative.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Charles Griffith, launched the “Training of Trainers” Workshop on Monday, at the Ministry’s headquarters, Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, St. Michael.

In his address at the opening ceremony, Mr. Griffith urged participants to absorb all of the knowledge that would be shared over the five days.

“Your ability to relay this knowledge and positively impact the lives of others is paramount … I believe each of you has the potential to make a difference,” he stated.

The workshop caters to young people up to age 35. “We want to support aspiring entrepreneurs at various stages of their journey,” the Youth Minister explained.

The programme’s 23 participants include youth workers, seasoned facilitators, UWI students, business development officers and mentors, who will focus on business labs and the integration of technology. During the labs, the entrepreneurs are being taught how to be better business people, including how to set up and run their own businesses.

The workshop will be conducted by lead trainer, Clive White, who has served as a facilitator with the YES Entrepreneurial Development Training Programme for more than two decades.

He is the lead trainer and facilitator for the Organization of American States’ Young Americas Business Trust Business Labs Programme in the Caribbean.
