In recognition of International Literacy Day September 8, the National Library Service’s (NLS) Speightstown branch will be distributing free books to persons in the north of the island, on that day.

The book drive, next Friday, will be held under the Gazebo in the Speightstown Esplanade, St. Peter, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Acting Deputy Director of the NLS, Beverley Archer, explained that the event is designed to reinforce the importance of reading and literacy especially among children. She also wants residents to join the Speightstown branch, re-acquaint themselves with the “joy of reading” and fully utilise the services offered by the library.
