The Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment will celebrate, engage and empower Barbadian youth during the 2022 National Youth Week – Sunday, September 25th to Sunday, October 2nd, 2022.

The week will commence with a Parade from the Carter’s General Stores Carpark at 3:30 p.m. and a National Youth Service at the Wildey Gymnasium, Garfield Sobers Complex, Wildey, St. Michael, on Sunday, September 25, beginning at 4:00 p.m.  The service will be carried live on CBC TV 8.

A Ministry Open Day will be held on Monday, September 26, at the Oistins Bay Gardens, Christ Church, offering youth, community persons and visitors to Oistins the opportunity to engage and learn more about the Ministry’s programmes and activities.

The week also includes a special Get Hired employability programme on Wednesday, September 28, and features youth advocacy and representation in a Social Media Takeover on Thursday, September 29, and a specially convened National Youth Parliament on Friday, September 30.

On Saturday, October 1, Barbadians will be given the opportunity to come out and support local entrepreneurs at the Youth Expo and Talent event at Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, St. Michael, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The National Youth Week ends with the annual Richard Herbert Memorial Cricket Match and a community and staff ‘Battle of Sexes’ fun-sports event, with teams competing in cricket and netball on Sunday, October 2.
