The National Cultural Foundation (NCF) is offering free beginner training workshops in landship, drama, dance and stick licking.
Through specially designed training modules, participants will have the opportunity to unearth new talent while training with experienced professionals in the field like Kenneth ‘Jack’ Lewis, Akeem Chandler- Prescod, Adrian Green, Carol Brathwaite, Dr. Philip Forde, Raheem Cox, Lesley Seale and more.
The theatre programme under the theme Stories of Survival: From Sunset to Sunrise will include training in the areas of acting and spoken word, while dance will focus on training persons in African, Street and Afrobeat movements. Persons will also have the opportunity to learn the art of stick licking; landship and maypole movements and how to play the various instruments of the Tuk Band.
Classes will run weekly until November and take place at the following locations: NCF Dance Studio, West Terrace St. James; Harrison College; Princess Margaret Secondary School; Ellerton Community Centre; Coleridge and Parry School; Daphne Joseph Hackett Theatre; Springer Memorial Secondary; St. George Secondary; St. Christopher’s Primary School; Alexandra Secondary School; Daryll Jordan Secondary School; Grantley Adams Secondary; Frederick Smith Secondary; Boscobelle Community Centre and George Lamming Primary School.
