The National Council on Substance Abuse (NCSA) is gearing up to roll out its Drug Education through Technology project which would see much of its drug education information being placed online.
This was revealed by Manager of the NCSA, Betty Hunte, during a presentation to the organisation of $7,000 in computer equipment, including laptops, webcams and a television.
“This project will see us placing all our drug education information in an online format, so that if we have to go solely online, our audience will still benefit from drug prevention messages and information. If we do a blended approach, people will have a choice,” she stated, noting that many were working remotely in the prevailing COVID-19 environment.
Mrs. Hunte further noted that the NCSA was also looking at training through the International Society of Substance Use Professionals.
The Manager thanked the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for the donation and equipment, noting that it emerged from a long-standing partnership that spanned more than two decades, and which continued to grow.
Programme Manager Officer at the UNODC, Bo Shakira Harris, applauded the work of the NCSA and pledged the agency’s commitment to rendering assistance where possible.
“We are always ready and willing to help. We understand the work you do, and we support your work. We are indeed pleased to have built a partnership with you for so long, and this will continue to grow,” she stated.
