The new solar pedestrian beacons located outside the Lawrence T. Gay School in Spooner’s Hill, St. Michael. (Ministry of Transport, Works and Water Resources)

The Electronic Unit of the Ministry of Transport, Works and Water Resources (MTWW) has installed new solar traffic beacons outside Lawrence T. Gay Primary School in Spooner’s Hill, St. Michael.

They are to safely assist students in crossing the road. The beacons will flash during peak school drop-off and pick-up times, between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m., and 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down within the school’s zone, especially during peak traffic times and to pay close attention to the pedestrians desiring to cross the road.
