The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is forging ahead with plans to construct multi-family dwellings.
Word of this new housing solution has come from Minister of Housing and Lands, Michael Lashley, who said, during a recent interview, that although Barbadians have not traditionally adopted multi-family solutions, “the density per acre can be doubled by simply constructing multi-family dwellings”.
Mr. Lashley further stated that the NHC had engaged large-scale contractors and planners in providing these solutions. “We believe that multi-family units must be built because of the scarcity of land in Barbados,” he said.
The Minister gave the assurance that “such an initiative will surely ease the pressure of competition between agricultural and residential use”.
