Motorists and residents are advised that Infra Construction Inc. is scheduled to pave Oistins to Thornbury Hill, Christ Church, tonight, Wednesday, February 28, under the Ministry of Transport and Works’ Accelerated Mill and Pave programme.
Work on this road started on Friday, February 9, but was delayed due to a number of challenges, including the removal of mud pockets from some sections of the existing road base and subbase, and the need to conduct repairs to these sections.
Additionally, the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) was called in to lower water mains along the route and to repair burst water mains in order for the roadworks to continue. BWA and the contractor have been together to mitigate further delays.
Paving, which will begin tonight, will be done from 7:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for approximately two nights, pending weather or any unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic will be detoured onto Highway U through Oistins towards Maxwell, while traffic coming from Durants will be diverted onto Wilcox Ridge Road or Hill View Road. Road users are asked to follow the directions of signage and traffic wardens, and to plan their routes accordingly.
