Barbadian Samuel Burke, who resides in the United States of America (USA), will donate several white, flexible canes to the National Disabilities Unit (NDU) tomorrow, Tuesday, June 18.
The brief handover ceremony will be held at the Recreational and Rehabilitation Facility at the NDU, Maxwelton, Lower Collymore Rock, St. Michael, at 11:15 a.m.
Mr. Burke, who is visually impaired, was trained in orientation and mobility at the Lighthouse of Central Florida, where he is employed. The white, flexible canes from that organisation will be presented to the Director of the NDU, John Hollingsworth.
IT Specialist for the Blind and Visually Impaired at the NDU, The Most Honourable Kerryann Ifill, and officials in the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs will also attend.
