Amateur artists will get the opportunity to put their skills to the test when the Division of Culture, in collaboration with the Barbados Arts Council, stages a Paint a Picture of Your Village Competition.

Competitors must draw or paint pictures of their communities in any medium – water colour, pencil, pen and ink or pastel. Digital work must be printed and all artwork must be no smaller than 8 x 10 inches, and no bigger than three feet in any direction.

All entries will be displayed in an exhibition at the gallery of the Barbados Arts Council in Pelican Craft Centre, and thereafter at the National Library Service’s branch libraries across the island. There will be attractive cash prizes for participants in the 8 to 12, 13 to 17, and over 18 age categories.

Entries must be submitted to the Barbados Arts Council by noon on Friday, July 28. The competition is part of the activities for the Season of Emancipation, which is being observed from April 14 to August 27.
