Prime Minister Freundel Stuart has congratulated the new Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Allen Chastanet, and his United Workers Party on the recent victory in the general elections.
In a congratulatory letter to Mr. Chastanet, Mr. Stuart noted that the people of St. Lucia had given him a clear mandate to carry out their desire for change and offered his best wishes for a productive and rewarding term in office.
According to him, Barbados and St. Lucia, as sister islands in the Eastern Caribbean, have enjoyed a longstanding and close relationship.
“We already cooperate at various levels in a wide range of areas. These include economic, environmental, social and cultural activities within government and the private sector as well as people-to-people exchanges. There are many opportunities for our two countries to continue working together to strengthen our bilateral relationship, and I look forward to continued engagement on matters of mutual interest,” he stated.

“It is important that we continue to work together alongside our other partners to promote our shared interests. In this regard, I look forward to interacting with you at the 37th Regular Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community in Guyana next month,” Mr. Stuart said.
