A pop-up health and variety fair will be held on Saturday, March 9, at the Church Village Green, Central Bank of Barbados, Spry Street, Bridgetown, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Members of the public are encouraged to support the event, which is being hosted by the Co-operatives Department of the Ministry of Energy and Business, in collaboration with a number of health organisations.

Innovative goods and services will be offered by Women Entrepreneurs, Ujamaa, Pinnacle and Pig Farmers’ Co-operatives, among others.

The items will include custom-made bags, agricultural produce, plants, a variety of clothing and women’s accessories, art and craft pieces, locally made confectionery and soaps, as well as various types of jewellery.  

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy will be in attendance to speak to members of the public about the Energy Smart Fund, including grant and loan funding, which are offered to micro and small businesses involved in energy projects.

Complimentary blood pressure testing and screening will be provided by the Diabetes and Hypertension Association of Barbados. Additionally, the Barbados Kidney Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados will be present to share information on their services and give advice on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

There will be vegetarian food samples provided by Pinnacle Co-operative, as well as pork samples from the Pig Farmers’ Co-operative, and prepared by Dr. Phil’s Kitchen. Other food and refreshments will be on sale.

Resident DJ Sweet Tunes Entertainment, Elan Marie Jordan of ELANJAY, and a Tuk Band featuring Mother Sally, will be on hand to entertain patrons.
