Prime Minister Freundel Stuart is in Grenada for the Thirty-Eighth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
The annual summit gets under way today, CARICOM day, with an opening ceremony at the Grenada Trade Centre, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
While in Grenada, Mr. Stuart and other regional leaders are expected to hold discussions on several key issues that are vital to the region, including a review of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
Among the other 23 items on the agenda, CARICOM heads will examine a Proposal by the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean for Debt Relief within the Caribbean Community; the Trinidad and Tobago-Chile Partial Scope Agreement; and the issue of Colonial Life Insurance Company Ltd (CLICO) and British American Insurance Company (BAICO).
During the three-day meeting, Heads of Government will also be given an update on Preparations for the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific/ European Union (ACP/EU) Negotiations for a Successor Arrangement to the Cotonou Partnership Agreement.
Prime Minister Stuart returns to Barbados on Friday.
