His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales, familiarly known as Prince Harry, arrived in Barbados today for the start of a three-day official visit.
After disembarking the British ship, Wave Knight, at the Bridgetown Port, the Prince received a red carpet welcome.
He was greeted by a delegation led by Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave; Prime Minister Freundel Stuart; Chairman of the 50th Anniversary of Independence Secretariat, Senator Maxine McClean; and Deputy Chairman, Senator Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo.
The island’s Chief Justice Sir Marston Gibson; Acting Commissioner of Police, Tyrone Griffith; and Chief of Staff of the Barbados Defence Force, Colonel Alvin Quintyne, were also on hand to welcome the Prince.
Student of The St. Michael School, Naresa McRway-Williams, was afforded the opportunity to pin a boutonniere on Prince Harry moments before he received the Royal Salute and inspected the Guard of Honour.
The Prince is expected to take part in the island’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, including the Reveal of the Monument and the Annual Independence Day Parade at the Garrison Savannah, tonight and tomorrow, respectively.
