A fresh attempt will be made to reinforce the importance of employees working together to build a better society when the Productivity Council hosts its annual week of excellence programme.

Under the theme Caring Corporations for Community Development: Working Together to Build a Better Society, the activities will get under way?? with a church service on Sunday, February 19, at the Bethel Methodist Church, Lower Bay Street, St. Michael, starting at 9:00 a.m.

The following day, Monday, February 20, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Senator Jepter Ince, will deliver the feature address at the official opening ceremony which commences at 8:30 a.m., at the Grand Salle, Central Bank of Barbados, Tom Adams Financial Centre, Church Village, St. Michael.

On Tuesday, February 21, there will be presentations from key stakeholders including the Chief Executive Officer of the National Initiative for Service Excellence, Kim Tudor; Senior Assistant General Secretary at the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), Julian Hunte; Management Consultant, Hensley Sobers; and General Secretary of the Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB), Dennis Depeiza.?? The sessions will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the BWU’s Solidarity House headquarters.

The discussions will move to the BWU’s Labour College at Mangrove, St. Philip, on Wednesday, February 22, where Training Officer with the Productivity Council, Karen Collins, will deliver a talk on Motivating Teams Towards Achieving Excellent Business Results at 8:45 a.m.?? This will be followed by a workshop on Timeliness, Attendance, Core Values as they Impact Worker Productivity.??

It will be the turn of the schools on Thursday, February 23, when sessions will be held for students at two venues. The first session will take place at the Seventh Day Adventist School, Dalkeith, St. Michael, when Client Services Advisor, Customer Service at NISE, Tracey Austin, will speak on the topic: The Guiding Principles of Good Service. It begins at 10:00 a.m.

In the second session slated for the Almond Bay Conference Centre, Hastings, Christ Church, the BWU’s Senior Assistant General Secretary, Julian Hunte, will discuss Grievance Handling and this will commence at 9:00 a.m.?? This will be followed by a presentation delivered by Principal of the BWU Labour College, Ulric Sealy on Conflict Resolution at 10:30 a.m; and Human Resources Management by Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Akentolove Corbin at 1:00 p.m.

The activities will culminate in Bridgetown on Saturday, February 25 with the Taking Service Excellence to the Streets campaign.?? Slated to kick off from 11:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m.

Representatives from NISE, The Productivity Council, Barbados Employers’ Confederation, the Office of Public Sector Reform and the CTUSAB, will distribute memorabilia to shoppers in Broad Street, Roebuck Street, High Street and Fairchild Street.
