Interested firms are requested to submit proposals for Event Management Services for the Understanding Risk (UR) Caribbean Conference, to be held in Barbados from May 27 to June 1.
Following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017 across the Caribbean, there has been increased emphasis on identifying, assessing and reducing disaster risk in the region.
The aim of UR Caribbean is to provide an informal platform for the public and private sectors, regional disaster risk management agencies, non-governmental organizations, multilateral development banks and donors across the region to identify gaps and needs that exist in disaster risk information across agencies and sectors.
It will also attempt to obtain in-depth training in areas such as coastal protection, risk financing, community engagement and physical and urban resilience, among others; and share knowledge and best practices from analyses, studies, projects and business practices.
The deadline for proposals is Thursday, March 14, at 5:00 p.m. ET. UR Caribbean is organized by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, and the World Bank’s Caribbean Region Disaster Risk Management team. The conference will be co-financed through the European Union-funded Africa, Caribbean, Pacific – European Union Natural Disaster Risk Reduction Program, managed by the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery.
