The Bureau of Gender Affairs has released a digital newsletter to sensitize persons about gender-based violence.
Entitled Mainstream, the publication is part of the Bureau’s outreach initiatives for the upcoming 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, which is observed from November 25 to December 10 annually.
The newsletter features a variety of articles, including a review of the Domestic Violence (Protection Orders) Act CAP 130 A.; poetry by NIFCA award-winning poet, Cyndi Marshall; and statistics on gender-based violence in Barbados.
Acting Research Officer with the Bureau, William Warner, who is also the editor of Mainstream, said the publication “comes at a critical juncture as we continue to grapple with violent incidents against women and girls”.
Mr. Williams said he hoped readers would be encouraged to “play whatever role possible in helping to rid our society of this scourge”.
Mainstream is available online at www.gisbarbados.gov.bb in the General Information Section, which can be accessed under the Resources and Downloads tabs.
