The QEH wishes for members of the public to be aware of the updated mask-wearing policy at its main facility on Martindale’s Road, as well as the Harrison’s Point, Enmore and Belleville facilities.

This represents a partial relaxation of the mask-wearing protocols existing during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mask-wearing:

  • Is highly recommended but not mandatory for visitors, patients and staff in non-clinical areas such as, but not limited to, the hallways, lobbies, offices, Cafeteria, Pharmacy waiting area, and Radiology waiting area.
  • Is mandatory for individuals exhibiting respiratory symptoms such as runny nose, sore throat, postnasal drip, coughing, sneezing, and/or difficulty breathing, regardless of the area.
  • Is mandatory for visitors, patients and staff in clinical areas such as, but not limited to the wards, Accident & Emergency and its waiting area, ICUs, Operating Theatres, Units (AKU, Cardiac Unit, Respiratory Unit etc.), Outpatients Clinics, and in ambulances.

As a healthcare institution, the QEH remains committed to the safety of our patients, visitors, and staff.

The public is therefore reminded to bring a mask when visiting the hospital for wearing in the areas where masks remain mandatory and to follow the instructions of the QEH Security and other Staff.
