Members of the public will get to see the skills of officers of the Royal Barbados Police Force when it hosts its first talent expo on Tuesday, September 8.

Under the theme Life is Beautiful, the event will take place on the grounds of the Police Sports Club, Weymouth, Roebuck Street, St. Michael, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

There will be displays of art, photography, pottery, floral arrangements, calligraphy, cakes and pastries, cabinetry, throw cushions and more, all crafted by the officers attached to the various stations across the island.  At 4:00 p.m., there will be a karaoke session, which is open to the public.

Main organiser of the expo, Detective Constable 1955 Allison Bryan, who works within the Criminal Investigations Department, said the event is an outreach programme designed to not only show off the various talents of the force, but also to “showcase the softer side of law enforcement to help bridge the gap between the public and lawmen as a means of improving communication with the public”.

Detective Constable Bryan is urging the public to come out and support the event and to mingle with officers and ask questions on any area of policing.
