Government, through the Office of the Attorney General, has commenced the refurbishment work of the Old Registration Department/Supreme Court buildings starting from today, Thursday, November 5.
These buildings, holding significant national value, and listed in the UNESCO designated Historic Bridgetown and its Garrisons’ catchment area, will be returned to their original architectural state at the completion of the refurbishment project.
The project will be executed through the Design and Implementation Unit of the Office of the Attorney General, and is scheduled to be completed by March 15, 2021.
On completion, the new judicial facility will house four Courts, the Law Reform Commission and the Community Legal Services Department.
As a result of construction work, the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Barbara Cooke-Alleyne, is asking the public to access the Court through the back entrance of the old Registration Department Building on Tudor Street, Bridgetown.
The general public and those conducting business are therefore advised that access through the construction area is strictly prohibited as there will be no access from Coleridge Street.
