The Ministry of Health and Wellness reminds members of the public of the criteria for discharge from COVID-19 isolation, which was changed from 10 days to seven days in September last year.

The criteria are:

  • An individual will be cleared for discharge on day seven (7) from a positive COVID-19 PCR test result, or seven days after the onset of symptoms.
  • The individual must be asymptomatic or show improving symptoms for three (3) days prior to discharge.
  • If the individual remains symptomatic, isolation must be extended for a full 10-day period with no further testing required to exit isolation.
  • After discharge from isolation on day seven (7), the individual is strongly advised to wear a mask when in the presence of others until 10 complete days have elapsed.
  • Persons who work in specific sectors, namely all healthcare facilities, nursing homes, senior citizens’ homes and prisons will be required to have a negative rapid test after day seven (7) in order to return to work, or spend a full 10 days in isolation before being discharged.
