Motorists now have the option of renewing their drivers’ licence online.

The Ministry of Innovation, Science and Smart Technology (MIST), in collaboration with the Barbados Postal Service and Barbados Licensing Authority, today launched the online service, virtually.

Minister Kay McConney, in announcing the new initiative, said in pushing for a more modern and efficient government, the aim was to make transactions easier for Barbadians and for people doing business with government generally.

“It is about you. EASE – making it easy, affordable, safe and efficient is our mission, in your interest.  Where possible, Government is seeking to use the modern tools of technology available to us …. I am happy to announce another priority step for Barbados on our path to modernisation and to a greater ease in doing business with Government – the launch of the online payment for the renewal of drivers’ licences.

“As of today, you can log on to EZ Pay+  at www.ezpay.gov.bb and choose from the drivers’ licence renewal options available,” she stated.

According to Senator McConney, drivers now have three ways to pay; two ways to get their licence; and one way to renew with ease.

“We have partnered with the Barbados Postal Service to include a delivery service right to your door, if you so choose,” she disclosed.

Minister of Home Affairs, Information, and Public Affairs, Wilfred Abrahams, who has responsibility for the Barbados Postal Service, expressed his pleasure at partnering   with MIST and the Barbados Licensing Authority on this new initiative.

“This initiative with the Licensing Authority and MIST is but another step in our aim to redevelop ourselves to evolve into what Barbados really needs from its postal service. People have been complaining forever about standing in long lines to pay; renew licences; … to collect licences. Those days are coming to an end. And this is but the first step.

“Imagine now a situation where you renew your licence online; you pay for it online; and that licence is delivered to you by the Barbados Postal Service, the very next day. A safe, efficient transaction. You don’t have to leave home, which is a bonus in these COVID times. So, I am pleased as the Minister … to be associated with this fantastic initiative, and this is but the first step in the revolutionary process to modernise and make relevant our postal service, so that we could better serve you,” Mr. Abrahams said.
