Activities to mark African Awareness Month will continue at several secondary schools this Friday, February 17, with emphasis on cultural garb.

The schools will also bring awareness to African food, art and craft, music, story-telling, drama, poetry and the several countries on the African continent.

The Lodge School, at Society, St. John, will host its annual “Black History Month Celebrations” from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  The students will wear their African clothing and partake in various African food items and other products which will be on sale.

At Alleyne School in Belleplaine, St. Andrew, students will look at the Culture of Africa and there will be a music showcase and storytelling in the square.

At Combermere School, Waterford, St. Michael, while there will be emphasis on Culture Day with students wearing their African garb depicting their ethnic culture, the day will also seek to embrace the cultures of other students.

Events at these educational institutions will begin at 9:00 a.m.
