Governor-General Sir Elliott Belgrave bestowed the honour of Knight of St. Andrew and Dame of St. Andrew on three outstanding citizens this afternoon at Government House, after being unable to attend the official investiture ceremony yesterday morning.
Sir Elliott, who was temporarily indisposed, was able to resume his duties following medical treatment, and conferred the accolade of Knight of St. Andrew on businessman, Sir Ronald Geoffrey Cave; and attorney-at-law, Sir John Andrew Connell. They were awarded for their outstanding contributions to business and to law and the protection of the environment, respectively.
The accolade Dame of St. Andrew was conferred on surgeon Dame Selma Udine Jackman for her outstanding contribution to the medical profession.
The remaining insignia of the National Honours and Awards for 2016, as well as the Barbados Jubilee Honour, were presented by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.
