The public is advised that there will be smoke testing of the A/C ductwork in the Accident and Emergency Department (AED) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, on Friday, August 4; Tuesday, August 8; and Wednesday, August 9.

During the testing exercise, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day, there may be smoke leaking into the AED and the upper Lions Eye Care Centre area, but this is not a cause for alarm or concern.

The smoke poses no danger to people in the vicinity. It is harmless, odourless, and non-toxic and is approved to allow the contractors to do necessary checks for leaks in the A/C system and ducts. This work forms part of the Phase 3 expansion of the AED, which will continue over the next few months.

The QEH thanks members of the public for their patience and understanding and apologises for any inconvenience which may be caused, as it aims to enhance service delivery in an expanded Accident and Emergency.
